Visits
There are many places to visit including the hilltop village of Flavigny (classed as one of the most beautiful villages of France where 'Chocolat' was filmed) , the twelfth century Cistercian abbey of Fontenay (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the medieval town of Semur-en-Auxois and the Muséoparc of Alésia tracing the Gauls and Vercingetorix's last stand against Caesar.
Activities
Some guests stay with us just to get away from it all and relax, whilst enjoying walks on paths & quiet roads right from the front door, or even a gentle game of boules in the courtyard.
Others feeling more active head into the nearby Morvan Park which offers endless opportunities for hiking, biking, kayaking and swimming with its many trails, rivers and lakes. There is also an open air swimming pool in Époisses and a beach area with water sports at the Lac de Pont on the edge of Semur-en-Auxois.
Bringing your bikes with you is a great idea to enjoy the rolling countryside - easier pedalling can be found along the towpath of the Burgundy Canal which is a twenty minute drive from the house.
Browsing brocantes, visiting food markets and wine tastings are all popular activities. Whilst some people head out to play golf or tennis, others might consider karting or tree climbing which are available locally.
